Small business loan activity grows in Central Florida

Small businesses in Orange County received roughly 36 percent more money in loans this year than last, according to Small Business Administration data.

The agency released the data this week and the numbers showed increases across the board.

Overall, 861 loans were handed out from Oct. 1 last year to the end of July. That number was up from the 614 loans made during the same period a year ago.

The data showed increases in the number of loans and the total amouint loaned in Lake, Osceola and Seminole counties, as well.

Orange County businesses received 182 loans totaling $80.2 million, up from 109 loans worth $59 million a year ago.

Lake businesses received 36 loans worth $13.5 million and Seminole County received 68 loans worth $29.2 million.

Osceola County businesses received two loans worth $3.8 million in 2014. 2015 data for Osceola was not available immediately.
