Farmstand Newsletter: September 12 - 17
Eat the Rainbow

Come to the Farmstand for a rainbow of colorful vegetables. Each hue is nature's color code to certain nutrients that help your body function at its best. Red produce like tomatoes and red peppers are full of antioxidants. These compounds help promote heart health and lead to graceful aging. Orange produce like carrots and delicata squash offer plenty of beta-carotene. This helps eyesight, immune function and healthy skin. Yellow corn and yellow peppers are packed with Vitamin C. Green leafy vegetables, such as kale, swiss chard, and arugula, support brain and heart health. The rich purple hue of beets comes from powerful stress reducing antioxidants.  Since concentrations of nutrients vary in eat type of produce, eat a rainbow as part of your nutritious diet.
