Box Score The firsts have come quickly for the John Carroll University men's lacrosse team thus far in its inaugural season of varsity play. Just not the first conference win.

After Baldwin Wallace scored three unanswered goals to pull within one at 8-7 with 13:27 remaining in the game, John Carroll rebounded with two goals of its own to take the 10-7 win and pick up its first conference win on Saturday afternoon inside Don Shula Stadium.

Playing in his final regular season home game Brian Jaszka, the lone senior on the squad, looked to spark his team.

The Buffalo, N.Y. native finished with two goals and an assist on the day in helping John Carroll improve to 10-3, 2-1 OAC. Baldwin Wallace fell to 6-5, 1-2 OAC.

"I thought Brian was fired up," said head coach Brian Small. "He played like a senior today and really shined on his day. It was really his day today. He did an excellent job. Brian has been a catalyst for us all season in keeping the team together. The focus today was on the team."

The senior tied the game at two with 1:43 remaining in the first quarter to start a 3-0 JCU run. The Blue and Gold's other two goals on the run came seven seconds apart in the second quarter when Daniel Kincaid scored the first of his three goals with 9:42 remaining in the half. Michael Roth followed suit with his lone goal in the game with 9:35 remaining to put JCU up 4-2.

James Wilhelm cut John Carroll's lead to one with 13:27 remaining in the game. The Blue Streaks stormed right back remaining composed down the stretch.

Gary Anile and Kincaid scored midway through the final stanza to push the Blue Streaks' lead back to three at 10-7.

Said Small, "I think the big thing with a young team is sometimes when you get in trouble they tend to fold. We've learned from that the past two games that this is lacrosse. This isn't hockey or soccer. Teams are going to score and when the going gets tough the tough gets going. I think that's one thing we focused on the last two days. It really showed today. Our guys kept their composure and I was really proud of them."

Traditionally known for his scoring Declan O'Grady was held scoreless but contributed on the offensive end with three assists.

"I think teams are starting to key in on him now," said Small. "I think before teams didn't have a lot of film on him. They now realize he is one of our guys who gets our offense going. Like a good player, you don't necessarily need him to score, but you need him to facilitate. I thought he did an excellent job of that today."

Keegan Flinter (two) and Dakota Thomas rounded out the scoring for JCU. Led by Kyle Patterson the Blue Streaks finished with a 13-8 edge in faceoffs. John Carroll received 13 saves from Brian Bedell.
