Women's soccer wraps up summer youth camp

BILLINGS, Mont. – With 90 attendees from grades 4-12 in attendance, the 2014 Montana State Billings women's soccer youth camp ran June 23-26 at the Yellowjacket Soccer Field.

Members of the MSUB coaching staff and women's soccer team served as instructors at the four-day event, which included a variety of unique sessions. Camp attendees got in-depth training on the turf in the morning, then had the chance to apply skills they learned to evening scrimmages inside the lower gym on the MSUB campus.

"This year's overnight camp was a huge success," MSUB head women's soccer coach Wojtek Krakowiak said. "Not only did we have numerous campers from Billings, but also from other parts of Montana, Wyoming and Washington."

This year's camp also included a trip to the Reef Indoor Water Park, the largest park of its kind in Montana.

After training sessions on the final day of camp, attendees and the coaching staff gathered inside the campus dorms to watch the U.S. qualify for the knockout round of the World Cup in a match against Germany.

"I think all of the campers and our coaching staff had a good time, and we are very happy with how the week went," said Krakowiak. "We were able to watch the U.S. qualify for the second round of the World Cup as a camp on the last day. Thanks to everyone that helped with this year's camp, and we look forward to next summer."
