Smith would the returning to the Bluegrass, but it's in a different role than some had expected.  Smith will take over the football program at JT's alma mater, Kentucky State, according to Football Scoop.  It was originally believed that John L. would take on the task of building Bellarmine's football program from scratch. It's a return trip to the state where he coached the Louisville Cardinals from 1998 until 2002.  His departure was stranger than Bobby Petrino's, the man he replaced at Arkansas as the interim coach for a year after the "motorcycle accident."  Louisville was losing to Byron Leftwich's Marshall Thundering Herd 17-7 at half of the 2002 GMAC Bowl, when it was revealed that he was leaving to be the head coach at Michigan State.  Bad timing, to say the least.  He's coached at a variety of random places over the years, but he might find himself a more long-term home in Frankfort with the Thorobreds. John L. is can't stop smiling about his new career choice and implores you to join him. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-nQLd6z9OU In other coaching news, Missouri has reportedly found a new head coach, a guy who many thought would be Kentucky's head coach after Joker Phillips was fired, Sonny Dykes.
