Gatti named to ABCA/Rawlings All-Mid-Atlantic-Region Third Team

Complete ABCA/Rawlings Division III All-Region Teams

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Luke Gatti, who hit a career best .420 and came within four hits of Elizabethtown College's single season record, has been named to the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings All-Mid-Atlantic Region Third Team. The ABCA announced its NCAA Division III all-region teams Wednesday.

The Blue Jays' first conference Player of the Year since 2009, Gatti led the Landmark Conference in batting average and hits (66). The first baseman wound up four hits shy of Andy Barrick's school record 70, set back in 1988, and ranked 11th in the nation prior to the start of the NCAA DIII Tournament.

Gatti, from Columbia, Pa., was one of two players to start all 41 games for the Blue and Gray. Along with leading the Landmark in batting average and hits, he also compiled a league-high 157 at-bats. Gatti ranked second in doubles (13), runs batted in (40) and total bases (79), third in on base percentage (.469) and seventh in slugging percentage (.503). Amongst Elizabethtown's single-season leaders, Gatti is fourth in at-bats and tied for eighth in RBIs.

The 2015 Elizabethtown College graduate was selected to an all-conference team for the first time in his career when he was named All-Landmark First Team on May 6, along with his Player of the Year award. His all-region nod is also a career first.

Elizabethtown now boasts 24 ABCA All-Region players in its history, with Gatti the first since
Dillon Tagle (second team catcher) and Kyle Gable (third team shortstop) in 2013.

The 2015 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division III All-Region teams were voted on by members of the ABCA.

Founded in 1945, the ABCA is the primary professional organization for baseball coaches at the amateur level. Its over 6,600 members represent all 50 states and 23 countries. Since its initial meeting of 27 college baseball coaches in June 1945, Association membership has broadened to include eight divisions: NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA, Junior College, Pacific Association Division, High School and Youth.
