Charges: Dangerous operation of a vehicle, Burketown

Police have charged a 19-year-old man in relation to an incident that occurred at a Random Breath Test site yesterday.

It will be alleged that around 2.50pm, officers saw a vehicle coming in their direction on the Wills Developmental Road and signaled the vehicle to stop.

The vehicle did not stop and it will be further alleged that the male driver drove at speed toward one of the officers, who had to move from its path.

The abandoned vehicle was located later in Bourketown and a short while later, police apprehended the man.

Nobody was injured during this incident.

A 19-year-old Normanton man will reappear in the Mount Isa Magistrates Court on April 22, facing one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, fail to stop motor vehicle, driving under the influence, driving without a license, possess dangerous drugs and two counts of possess utensils.
