Cantwell Effect

Former Falcons Head Coach Al Cantwell continues to help out his former West Coast League squad, as he will send three of his LSU-Shreveport Pilots to the Okanagan Valley this summer.

Right-handed Pitcher Brandon Russell (Rosepine, LA), and utility players James Jean (Lake Park, FL) and Connor McMullin (Dripping Springs, TX) will don the Falcons uniform.

Russell, a reliever, has appeared in 14 games for the Pilots this season, and sports a 2.19 ERA for the 43-12 Pilots. He is 5-3 with 2 saves in 24.2 innings.
McMullin is currently hitting .289 with 3 HR and 22 RBI in 44 games this season. Last year for the Pilots, he had a .340 average with 33 RBI’s. He also drew 23 walks in 2014 in 59 games.

Jean (pictured) is having an excellent year after transferring from Seminole State College. He was named to the 2nd team All-Conference, as well as the Outstanding Freshman of the Year while there. This season, Jean has 40 RBI’s including 6 HR’s and a .386 average.

The Pilots just wrapped up their 4th Red River Athletic Conference Championship in 5 years this past week, and will now move on to the NAIA Opening Round tournaments. The seeding will be announced Friday, May 8th.

The Pilots success is due in large part to Coach Cantwell who was named the RRAC Coach of the Year for the second straight campaign.
