Capt. Charlie Nash Cancer Fund

Charlie Nash is a Captain with Horry County Fire Rescue. In mid-August he was diagnosed with Stage 3 Testicular Cancer. This was a sudden and unexpected diagnosis. Being a career firefighter and a first responder to the 9/11 attacks in NYC, the chances of being diagnosed with this particular cancer is elevated. Unfortunately, there is no way to prove the illness came from any particular incident. Receiving funds from organizations associated with 9/11 responders is umcertain, at best as they are in danger of losing their funding. Charlie and his wife, Chase, have been married since February 2014. Earlier this year, Chase had to undergo Gallbladder surgery and left them with medical bills, which they have been blessed to be able to cover. The cancer is a different story. There are several tests and medicines that are associated with the treatments, not to mention time out of work. Testing will be required over Charlie’s lifetime, years after the treatments conclude. The doctors are positive about the possibility of curing this cancer, but there are no guarantees. The GoFundMe fund will help pay for needed medical equipment, bills not covered by insurance, ongoing testing and some living expenses while Charlie is unable to work due to chemotherapy. Charlie has been very active in charity fundraising over his lifetime. He has helped raise funds by playing in bands, charity shows performed by C4W Explosive Pro-Wrestling, and as a board member of the Horry County FireFighter Relief Fund. It is difficult for Charlie to admit they need assistance and they wouldn’t ask for it themselves. Charlie’s plan is that any funds he gains that exceed his needs, will go to The Firefighter Relief Fund’s cancer fund to help others. Charlie never hesitates when his help is needed and now he is in the position of needing help and we appreciate and bless you in advance.
