We are a progressive American Baptist church that has a long history of "deeds over creeds." Our work for a better world calls us to unexpected places to harness God's love to stop the forces of oppression and inequality that dominate this good world. From grassroots community organizing to interfaith legislative advocacy, in protest marches, prayer vigils, and press conferences, in homeless shelters and in prisons, we liberal Baptists put our faith into action. We affirm and promote the inherent worth and dignity of every being and we seek justice, equity, and compassion for the interconnected web of all existence.

Sad to see homophobia on Yelp. Being gay and being baptist do exist. If you don't "approve" of a church because the minister is gay maybe it's time to check your bible again.
The two people that posted negative reviews are bigots. A place you wouldn't bring your kids? Because they are gay?
Have either of you stepped foot into the church itself or just posting hate speech?
You actually spent time writing a negative review about a church because there is a gay pastor? I'm guessing you wanted a reaction based on the archaic and homophobic dribble that was written.
Shame on you both.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 1 - Feb 21, 2014First to Review
For years, I drove by this church and admired how lovely it was on the outside. Then one day I decided to go in and found that it was a haven for so many incredible social goods that it was time to include my family in this goldmine of goodness. The kids attended Sunday school classes here and services became a staple for us every week. The people were welcoming and treated us as old friends. We looked forward to every weekend to socialize at this lovely church.

Even though the the kids are grown and on their own, and we no longer live in Palo Alto, it doesn't make this church any less near and dear. They have so many great programs that it beckons friends and neighbors alike to join. For instance, the upstairs of this church houses The New Mozart School of Music where young and old alike (mostly young) can learn the finer art of playing instruments.
My favorite event is their Monday night vegetarian dinners. Hosted by the Peninsula Macrobiotics Community, volunteers have been preparing wholesome and healthy meals to eat in or take away for the past 26 years. This is not your average church food kitchen, but gourmet, organic meals that will rival any fine dining establishment. The volunteers put their hearts and souls into each meal, carefully preparing each plate and to-go box like a skilled professional. As an example, the next meal is February 24 and prepared by Chef Gary Alinder. The meal is called the Post Olympic Macro Vegan Super Supper and will consist of Veggie Mushroom-White Bean Soup, Kasha Pilaf, Winter Seitan Stew with Carrots, Turnips and Cauliflower, Red Cabbage Sauerkraut, Mixed Green Salad with Balsamic-Mustard Vinaigrette, Lemon-Poppy Seed Cake, Tea. Sounds delicious? It is.

Stop by the church website to see all of their goings on and become a part of a really fine Palo Alto icon. Your heart, mind, body, soul and stomach will thank you for it.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 1 - Matthew W.San Francisco, CA02Jun 5, 2018
This is a place within Palo Alto that truly seeks to do good and love all those they are surrounded by. An incredible influence and a place where everyone really can find love.
