LANSING, MI (WLNS) – Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero says the city’s population is growing, increasing by more than 0.3 percent last year.

According to the U.S. Census, Lansing’s population increased by 399 people in the last year.

Mayor Bernero says Lansing is on the right track. “The census data proves that Michigan’s capital city is growing again, thanks to our aggressive approach to attracting new job-creating investments and making Lansing a more attractive place to live, work, visit and play,” said Mayor Bernero.

Lansing gained more residents than Ann Arbor, Kalamazoo, Sterling Heights, Troy and Royal Oak.

While Grand Rapids is no. 1, Lansing comes in at no. 3, behind Kentwood.

Bernero concluded, “We are definitely on the right track and I know the best is yet to come!”
