Enjoying Christ’s Ministry as a High Priest according to the Order of Melchizedek

Jehovah declares to my Lord, Sit at My right hand Until I make Your enemies Your footstool....Jehovah has sworn, And He will not change: You are a Priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek. Psa. 110:1, 4, Recovery Version BibleGod’s intention from the very beginning was that man would be priests to God; He didn’t ask Adam to do anything for Him but to make sure he eats of the tree of life and not of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Adam spent much time with God and knew God personally, but he didn’t go on to take of the tree of life.

Today we as believers in Christ are being recovered to God’s original intention; we are being recovered to spending time with God and taking God as our life supply so that we may be priests to God.

The first mention of the word “priest” in the Bible was not with Aaron but with someone called Melchizedek; this one was a priest of the Most High God, and he came to meet Abraham after slaughtering the kings to release his nephew Lot. This Melchizedek is a very mysterious person: he has no book of generations, neither is he showing up anywhere else after this, but he is a priest of the Most High God, and he came to Abraham with bread and wine (a clear type of God being processed to become our food, the significance of the Lord’s Table in the New Testament).

Because of the fall of man due to Satan’s seduction, sin came in and corrupted man, causing man to be fallen and sinful. In order to take care of the problem of sin, God ordained the priesthood according to the order of Aaron, which was something temporary and not part of God’s initial intention but was added later.

The Aaronic priesthood was a holy priesthood and it took care of sin through the sacrifices; Christ in His earthly ministry came and offered Himself as a sacrifice for our sins once for all, and now sin has been dealt with and removed! Praise the Lord for His death on the cross through which He offered Himself to the Father through the eternal Spirit as the sacrifice for our sins!

Now Christ is in the heavens in His heavenly ministry as a High Priest according to the order of Melchizedek ministering the processed Triune God to us as our daily supply.

We need to go on to enjoy Christ not only in His earthly ministry but in His heavenly ministry as the One who sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, the One who ministers to us whatever we need, dispensing the processed and consummated Triune God into us as our life supply to fulfill God’s eternal purpose!

Enjoying Christ’s Ministry as a High Priest according to the Order of Melchizedek

Now we need to press on to enter into the enjoyment of His ministry on the throne. We need to enter into the full participation in His priesthood according to the order of Melchizedek. If we do this, we will have a complete overcoming of sin, and sin will be absolutely under our feet. We will be in the Holy of Holies, having nothing to do with sin but continually enjoying grace. (Witness Lee, The Conclusion of the New Testament)The priesthood in the Bible is of two orders: the order of Aaron (a holy order, having mainly to do with sin through the sin offering) and the order of Melchizedek (a kingly order, having to do mainly with ministering God as life supply to man). Today Christ, our High Priest, is not according to the order of Aaron but according to the order of Melchizedek.

In His earthly ministry He was a High Priest according to the order of Aaron, and through His redemption we were reconciled to God and sin was dealt with. Hallelujah, today Christ is our Melchizedek, coming to us to minister the processed and consummated Triune God into us as our food. Sin is over – now grace is here! We should forget about sins and simply enjoy Christ as grace.

The priesthood according to the order of Melchizedek is a royal, kingly order (see 1 Pet. 2:9; Gen. 14:18; Heb. 5:10). There was a change, a transfer or priesthood from the order of Aaron to the order of Melchizedek, and now Christ is our kingly High Priest ministering God into us as our daily supply. This has nothing to do with sin but it has everything to do with the ministering of God.

Christ as the High Priest according to the order of Melchizedek is for the fulfillment of God’s original intention in creating man. Hallelujah, Christ is now sitting down on the right hand of the Majesty on high being a High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek to minister God to us for our life supply!

Many believers are still focusing on the Aaronic priesthood in Leviticus, but we need to be recovered back to Genesis 14. Paul speaks of Melchizedek in Hebrews; between Hebrews and Genesis there’s a bridge – Psa. 110, where we see that Christ was installed as King at the right hand of God, and He is truly Lord of all (v. 1)! This One, Christ the King and Lord of all, is also a Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.

Christ is the Lord of all, sitting on the throne, and He’s a priest ministering God into us for our enjoyment. Hallelujah, Christ is not on the cross anymore: He’s in the heavens, at the right hand of God, in resurrection and ascension, as our kingly High Priest ministering all that God is, has, has passed through, has attained and obtained in Christ through the Spirit with our spirit!

Are we still on the cross, or are we in the heavens? The Aaronic priesthood is something related to the Lord’s earthly ministry which He accomplished at the cross, but the priesthood of Melchizedek is related to His heavenly ministry, where He is ascended, victorious, on the throne far above all, constantly interceding for us and ministering God into us!

Lord Jesus, we come forward to You as our kingly High Priest to receive the constant dispensing of the processed Triune God into us as our life supply. Praise You, Lord, for being a royal High Priest sitting at the right hand of God on the throne and constantly ministering to us all that God is for our enjoyment, supply, and sustenance. Oh Lord, may we all be brought back to Your original intention to be dispensed into man as life, and may we practice enjoying You in Your heavenly ministry as our High Priest according to the order of Melchizedek!

Pressing on to Enter into the Enjoyment of Christ’s Ministry on the Throne

As the kingly High Priest, Christ ministers to us whatever we need, dispensing the processed and consummated Triune God into us as our life supply to fulfill God’s eternal purpose. All genuine Christians know and appreciate the Lord’s death on the cross; they believe in His redemptive work and are thus regenerated with God’s life. However, not many Christians go on to realize and experience Christ’s ministry in the heavens as the High Priest according to the order of Melchizedek.

The Lord Jesus today is no longer in His earthly ministry but in His heavenly ministry; His earthly ministry with His redemption was a procedure for Him to minister God into His chosen people. Right now Christ is sitting down on the right hand of the Majesty on high (Heb. 1:3) as a High Priest according to the order of Melchizedek (Psa. 110:1, 4; Heb. 6:20) dispensing God as food into our being.

Heb. 6:20 Where the Forerunner, Jesus, has entered for us, having become forever a High Priest according to the order of Melchizedek. (Recovery Version Bible)Through His work on the cross on earth Christ brought us forgiveness of sins; through His ministry on the throne in the heavens Christ ministers to us the overcoming of sin. Through His cross Christ delivered from Egypt, the world; through His heavenly ministry Christ brings us into Canaan, the enjoyment of the all-inclusive Christ as our portion.

Through His death on the cross Christ reconciled us to God and became our objective righteousness before God to be accepted by God; now in His ascension on the throne Christ is reconciling us further to God and He is being wrought into our being to become our subjective righteousness, the second garment which qualifies us to be at the wedding of the Lamb.

We need to press on to enter into the enjoyment of Christ’s ministry in the heavens on the throne. We need to enter into the full participation in His priesthood according to the order of Melchizedek so that we may have a complete overcoming of sin and be saved much more in His life!

As we enjoy Christ in His heavenly ministry as our High Priest according to the order of Melchizedek, sin is under our feet, we are in the Holy of Holies, and we continually enjoy grace. On His side, Christ is constantly interceding for us (Heb. 5:10; 7:24-26) and He’s ministering the processed Triune God into us; on our side, we need to press on and come forward to Him to receive the dispensing of the processed Triune God into us as our supply to fulfill God’s eternal purpose!

Hallelujah, as the kingly High Priest, Christ ministers to us whatever we need, dispensing the processed and consummated Triune God into us as our life supply to fulfill God’s eternal purpose! Let us come forward, press on, and enter into the full enjoyment and participation of Christ as our Melchizedek!

Lord Jesus, we press on to enter into the enjoyment of Your ministry on the throne. Thank You for Your work on the cross which affords us forgiveness of sins; we now come forward to enjoy Your ministry on the throne so that we may be enabled to overcome sin. Thank You for delivering us from the world through Your cross; we now come to Your throne to enjoy the all-inclusive Christ as our good land. Oh Lord, we want to enter into the full participation of Your priesthood according to the order of Melchizedek. We love You, our great High Priest ministering the processed Triune God into us!

As the Forerunner, the Lord Jesus is now within the veil, in the Holy of Holies in heaven. His purifying of sins is typified by the work of Aaron, whereas His sitting down on the right hand of the Majesty on high (Heb. 1:3) is according to the order of Melchizedek (Psa. 110:1, 4). His work on the cross on earth, typified by the work of Aaron, affords us forgiveness of sins. His ministry on the throne in heaven ministers to us the overcoming of sin. His cross delivered us out of Egypt; His throne brings us into Canaan. We participated in His work on the cross.
