EAST END, Ohio (Adam Clements) - Christmas is right around the corner and a lot of kids will be putting drones in their letters to Santa.

But, before kids send their brand new gadgets sky high, parents should know some safety tips.

"They're not toys anymore," drone expert Dean Toth said. "You need to think about many things. First and foremost, the blades. They spin at very high speeds. You need to keep your children and operators safe."

The FAA believes about 700,000 new drones will be hitting the air by Christmas.

Flamingo Air will be offering safety and training classes at Lunken Airport.

"The primary goal is to educate and train operators and communities on operating drones safely in the national airspace system," Toth said.
