Missing 12-year-old Gresham boy with autism safely located

UPDATE: The boy was found safe around 1 p.m. Tuesday.

GRESHAM, Ore. – Gresham police have safely located a 12-year-old boy who ran away from his parents early Tuesday morning.

According to police, he left a hotel he was staying at with his parents in the 17700 block of Northeast Sacramento Street in Gresham.

Investigators say the boy didn’t tell his parents he was leaving, but he briefly spoke with a man outside the hotel. He told the man repeatedly he was heading to the store.

He was found safe Tuesday afternoon.
