Rail incident, Caboolture

A 40-year-old Elimbah man has been charged after allegedly driving a vehicle onto railway tracks at Caboolture last night.

Around 8.15pm the man drove a hatchback onto the railway tracks at the intersection with Pumicestone Road before allegedly driving approximately 180metres in a southerly direction towards an oncoming train.

The man allegedly attempted to reverse the vehicle into the train which came to a stop before a collision occurred.

Train services were suspended for almost an hour and half.

The man has been charged with one count each of driving whilst under the influence of alcohol and use a vehicle in a way likely to damage or obstruct railway and is due to appear before Caboolture Magistrates Court on June 26.
