Virginia Union University was selected to finish fifth in the Northern Division of the CIAA, it was announced at the 2014 CIAA Football Kickoff Luncheon, held on July 24 in Durham, N.C.

Overall, the Panthers were picked to finish 10th among the CIAA football schools.

The selection was done by the coaches of the 12 CIAA schools.

Head coach Mark James, along with players Charles Davis III and Joshua Stalls were interviewed by emcee Stan Lewter of Urban Sports.

Virginia Union opens the 2014 football season 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 6, against Siena Heights University in Hovey Field in Richmond, Va.
