Charges: Weapons offences, Inala

InalaA 22-year-old Forest Lake man has been charged with various weapons offences following an incident in Inala yesterday.

Officers from the Inala Tactical Crime Squad stopped and searched a vehicle on Government Road at Richlands at about 8pm where it will be alleged the officers located a handgun, a silencer and ammunition inside the vehicle.

A subsequent search was conducted of a Forest Lake residence where police will allege a sawn-off rifle and more ammunition was located.

A 22-year-old man has been charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a Category D/H/R weapon, carrying a weapon in a public place while loaded, possession of ammunition, possession of property suspected of being used in connection with a drug offence and possessing drug paraphernalia.

He is scheduled to appear before the Richlands Magistrates Court on August 4.
