Women’s Soccer Drops Rain-Shortened Affair with Mount St. Mary

NEWBURGH, N.Y. – The Maritime Women's Soccer match against the Mount St. Mary Knights was stopped after 70:01 of play due to poor playing conditions, at the time of the stoppage the Knights were leading by the score of 7-0, as they picked up the victory.
 
Making 13 saves on the night was junior goalkeeper Kristen Hoar (Buffalo, N.Y./Kenmore East) as she yielded all seven tallies during the match.
 
Mount St. Mary scored its first goal of the match just 1:18 into regulation, followed by two more markers in the next four minutes. The Knights scored twice more in the first half to take a 5-0 lead into the halftime break.
 
In the second half, Mount St. Mary netted two more goals before the rain forced the game to be stopped with 70:01 gone by on the clock. The NCAA minimum time allowed in a contest is 70:00 before a game can be considered official.
 
Final stats saw the Knights lead in corner kicks by a 4-1 margin, while ended the night with 26 shots on the night, 13 of which were stopped by Hoar. Earning the win Mary Riley, who picked up the clean sheet without making a save on the night.
 
Maritime (5-9-1, 1-5 Skyline) will next travel to Sage for a conference matchup with the Gators on Saturday afternoon at 3:30 p.m., both live stats and live video of the game will be available at the links on MaritimeAthletics.com. Mount St. Mary (11-4-1, 5-0-1) clinched a home playoff match as a top-four seed in the Skyline Conference Tournament, but will next take on St. Joseph's at 11 a.m. on Long Island.
