Blue Jays return to NSCAA Poll at No. 21

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Elizabethtown College men's soccer team returned to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division III Poll Tuesday afternoon after a one-week absence and are ranked a season best 21st.

The Blue Jays vaulted up to third in the NSCAA's Mid-Atlantic Region rankings, which allowed them to claim a spot in the national poll for the second time this season.

Coming off a 1-0 win over Messiah last Wednesday and a 3-0 triumph over Moravian Saturday, E-town is sitting at 9-1-1 overall and was dealt its only loss by the new national No. 1 Franklin & Marshall (10-0). The Blue Jays, who host Susquehanna Wednesday and head to Merchant Marine Saturday, enter the week a perfect 3-0 in Landmark Conference play.

Freshman forward Gilbert Waso scored Elizabethtown's only goal last Wednesday as it defeated Messiah for the first time since 2006, while Aaron Rathsam and Jeff Light had a goal and an assist each in the Jays victory over Moravian Saturday. Rathsam was named Landmark Offensive Athlete of the Week Monday.

Not to be forgotten are senior goalkeeper Rodrigo Barrera and the E-town defense. Barrera collected his fourth and fifth shutouts of the season last week. The Blue Jays have six as a team and opponents have scored just nine goals against them in 11 games.

In addition to holding down a spot in the NSCAA Poll, Elizabethtown is 12th in the D3soccer.com Top 25. The Blue Jays have been ranked in all five of D3Soccer's polls this season.
