U.S. Navy’s latest, greatest warship springs a leak

U.S. Navy’s latest, greatest warship springs a leak

While Chinese and Russian navies conduct “island seizing” drills, our navy focuses on climate change and transgender awareness.

I recently noted that President Obama’s recent order is forcing our military to focus on climate change in its strategic planning.

This is a latest in a long-string of policies that are clearly full of holes, as shown by the fact that the U.S. Navy’s much-heralded, futuristic stealth destroyer sprung a leak on its maiden voyage.

Navy officials state that this situation is completely normal for new ships:

Crew members have detected a leak on the Zumwalt, the new destroyer built at Bath Iron Works, but the Navy and defense experts say such errors are typical for a first-in-class ship.

The destroyer is docked at Naval Station Norfolk in Virginia, and local news organizations reported it was scheduled for training at sea. The Zumwalt instead will be delayed in Norfolk for repairs, which are expected to take 10 days to two weeks.

Naval Surface Forces Pacific spokesman John Perkins said crews on the Zumwalt found a seawater leak Monday in a lubrication system for one of the ship’s propeller shafts.

Here is what the new stealth destroyer is actually suppose to do:

I guess this is the U.S. Navy’s new normal, which includes transgender appreciation classes.

…In an all-Navy message published Tuesday, Chief of Naval Personnel Vice Adm. Robert Burke said a three-pronged training approach will equip senior leaders and rank-and-file personnel for the changes.

“This training will emphasize policies and expectations of personal behavior,” the message states.

Beginning Nov. 1, mobile training teams composed of Navy fleet representatives and subject matter expects will be dispatched to deliver face-to-face briefs to senior leaders, including commanding officers, executive officers, command master chiefs, and chiefs of boat.

These sessions will also be open to equal opportunity advisers, ombudsmen and other command-designated representatives who will have a role in training the tenant commands on policies governing transgender troops.

The good news in these developments? The U.S. Navy has been successful against at least one of our foes.

US and allied warplanes have sunk over 100 ISIS boats, destroying 65 of them in September alone, according to the international military coalition.

While Iraq is nearly entirely land-locked, the Tigris and Euphrates rivers that cross that country are navigable, and ISIS has been using watercraft for a variety of purposes, including transporting fighters and conducting improvised explosive attacks.

A robust national strategic policy, however, also needs to include the Chinese and Russian navies. And while President Obama inked climate change diktats, these two naval powers were engaged in a joint drill featuring “island seizing“.

China and Russia kicked off more than a week of naval exercises in the South China Sea that will include an “island seizing” exercise, the Chinese Ministry of National Defense announced on Monday.

A five-ship Russian Navy flotilla arrived at the port of Zhanjiang in southern China on Monday for Joint Sea 2016, an eight-day bilateral exercise to be conducted in the South China Sea the ministry announced.

China issued pictures of the Udoloy-class destroyer Admiral Tributs (564) pulling into port on Monday.

The three Russian surface warships and two supply ships are set to drill with ten People’s Liberation Army Navy ships, “including destroyers, frigates, landing ships, supply ships and submarines,” according to the Chinese statement.

I suspect their naval officers did not worry about either climate change or trangender sensitivities in the midst of these drills.

Earlier this year, Legal Insurrection contributor Jonathon Levin wrote, “Time to Rebuild the Navy.” Shockingly, his learned suggestions did not include climate change or transgender appreciation training.

Photosynthesis: Plants/Plankton turning Sunlight/CO2 into Food/Oxygen – the Foundation of Life on Earth. Neither animal nor blade of grass would exist, absent CO2. More CO2 extends growing seasons & lets plants move higher in altitude & Latitudes; just as it shrinks deserts, plants using H2O more efficiently. Rising temperatures also extend growing seasons, help babies of nearly every species, increase net rainfall & save lives. The Earth is greener, more fertile & life sustaining than it was 40 years ago.

    Yeah, but, but, but…..LOL!!

It is also clear that Capitalism is good for the environment. Compare the improvement in environmental conditions in the US during the 2nd half of the 20th Century, to the environmental devastation caused by bad planning in Communist countries during the same time period. Many of the former Communist counties have greened significantly since the fall of Communism.

the Navy and defense experts say such errors are typical for a first-in-class ship.

It’s typical for any ship, in any navy. No need for panic … yet.

And this time, Obama’s polices as the Jackass-in-Chief aren’t to blame. Well, probably not. Although the ability of just one relatively lazy man to inflict damage has been remarkable.

Beg to differ. Seawater leaks into the people tank, or other places where seawater doesn’t belong, are NOT NORMAL! It’s why there are all sorts of drills on what to do if you’re first on the scene of one. It’s why oil levels are monitored every hour. To detect abnormal things, like an oil level rise. Shouldn’t happen. If it does, something is getting into the oil that shouldn’t be there.

The Russian navy has real men maning their ships.

We have … err …. ummmmm …. people that handle leaks in their own unique way.

Besides the utterly stupid strategic war planning for climate change, we got the use of less efficient bio fuels to power the warships.

It is well known throughout the history of war – the most important factor for both offense and for defense is speed. The Stupid Corrupt idiot in chief was to degrade the speed and capacity of the armed forces. Guess the Dumb – sh.. in chief believes we will be liked more by our enemies if are military are made easier to get killed.

Several points:

1) The increase of CO2 in the atmosphere, mostly as a result of human activity is real, and is mostly following the track that scientists say it will. You can disagree with these scientists’ politics as much as you like, and disagree with their proposed “solutions,” but science is actually right. The increase in greenhouse effect due to increases in CO2 emissions has been long known to be an inevitable effect of industrial growth using the technology of the time. In the past it had been innocuous, now it’s at a level that at least some care must be taken. However, the problem is that the left wing has tried to hijack this issue to promote their own adgenda.

The media and left wing activists do misinterpret and overstate the scientific results (e.g. blaming a specific hurricane on global warming). What is needed is a non-partisan (e.g. not hijacked by social leftists) planning to make sure that global warming doesn’t cause too many problems in the future.

2) The US Navy has very little to do with climate. The Navy is for defending the US from foreigners who would do use harm.

3) Transgender doesn’t exist biologically – and in my experience most people who identify as “transgender” are either activists or have been told that they are “transgender” by activists. The last thing that we need to do is turn our institutions, like the Navy, tools for activists to confuse vulnerable people.

    LOLOLOL! You crack me up!

M.K., not to be unkind, but….climate has changed since the beginning of time. Since before there were humans. It will continue to change even after humans are long gone. That, and that alone, is the reality.

Just to add a bit more… global warming is a problem that needs to be addressed. But, there is nothing to make it any worse than many other problems that have already been addressed. (For example, how often do we worry about malaria in the US.) On one hand, emission of greenhouse gas is hard to simply cut because almost everything produces it. But, on the other hand, this problem is relatively slow moving, giving technology a chance to keep up, making future solutions potentially more cost-effective. If climate change were happening fast enough that it could be a “threat”, I’m sure we’d have already dealt with it.

“While Chinese and Russian navies conduct “island seizing” drills, our navy focuses on climate change and transgender awareness.”

The better to bring on a catastrophic military defeat. Buraq Hussein Obama thinking he’ll cure those Americans of their military adventurism one way or another.
Sheikh Obama never does anything without a deliberately crafted, carefully calculated reason

We have a malignant horse’s ass as commander in chief –an ass who is led around by the nose by the likes of Valerie Jarrett and George Soros — and crying boehners hogging the leadership positions the opposition party.

Leaking? It’s amazing the ship can even drive out of port.

I really fucking hate Obama.

One of the issues with the “New” Navy and the Army and Air Force is that when you try to operate the units with mixed gender then you have to accept the problems that arise in everyday life of any city. Pregnancy, jealousy, acting out and the many things that distract men from doing a tough job. As anyone who has ever attended a single gender school knows, you get a lot more done with no one to impress or fight over. They can make all the rules they want but human nature will always triumph over man’s laws.

Same with the transgender accommidations in the military. A transgender has serious psychological problems, not physical problems. Why waste scarce resourses for psychological problems in the name of social equility when the problem has nothing to do with societal ills.

Auntie Maim in reply to inspectorudy. | September 27, 2016 at 1:42 am

I can agree. As someone who did the single-sex-school thing lo, those many years ago, I can attest to what women (and men) can achieve when they’re not trying to impress — or for that matter, protect — someone special. And no matter what sex you are, hear this: IF YA CAN’T PULL YER WEIGHT, YOU ARE ENDANGERING YOUR UNIT.

Thus endeth the lesson. Have a cup of tea, boys 😉

Here’s a pretty funny article about this ship from the Duffelblog, a satirical military news website. The scary thing about their satire is that it usually isn’t too far from the truth.
