MIDWEST CITY, Okla. (Nov. 8, 2017) – A pair of standout guards from the Oklahoma City metropolitan area, Derrick (D.J.) Walter of Midwest City High School and Will Graham of Westmoore High School, have signed letters of intent to play basketball for Oklahoma Christian, OC coach Cory Cole said Wednesday.

Walter, a 6-foot-4 wing player, helped Midwest City qualify last season for the Class 6A state tournament, averaging 13.3 points per game. He received honorable mention on The Oklahoman's All-State and Big All-City teams after his junior season and enters this season ranked as one of the state's top five 6A players by the website OKPreps.com.

Walter also serves as a student class president at Midwest City.

"D.J. is an intriguing talent," Cole said. "I believe he has a high upside as he's still developing and growing physically as well.  He can shoot it well and can guard defensively as well. He comes from a winning program with coach Dewayne Bradley and he knows how to work. He's a leader who comes from a terrific family. They will have the opportunity to come and see him play."

Graham, a 6-foot point guard, played a key role as Westmoore also qualified for last season's 6A state tournament, averaging 10.5 points per game. He also received honorable mention on The Oklahoman's All-State and Big All-City teams and was named to an Oklahoma Basketball Coaches Association's All-Region team last season.

As a sophomore, he averaged 9.6 points and 4.2 assists per game and was named as the Central Oklahoma Athletic Conference newcomer of the year. Also a track and field standout, Graham finished third in the Class 6A long jump as a sophomore (22 feet, 10 inches) and junior (23 feet, ¼ inch), earning All-City honors from The Oklahoman last season.

"Will is a blue collar energy bullet who has passion for the game and plays hard at both ends of the floor," Cole said. "He's a floor general who can penetrate and set up his teammates. He's a winner on and off the floor. He plays for OC alum Scott Hodges at Westmoore, so he's well-coached and knows how to work hard every day."

Cole said Graham and Walter have played club basketball together since the third grade "and are like brothers. I didn't know that when I was recruiting them, but it's been a definite plus as they are each the type of young men that will represent OC well on and off the court. We got better with their commitments."
