Carolina Puppet Theatre Returns to the
Renaissance Centre Wednesday
Wednesday, July 23 ~ 11 am

Audiences may already know Ms. Poly and Ms. Ester, the wacky Gabardine Sisters and their super-duper star puppet Bartlet. These longtime entertainers performed for several years at the former Kazoom Children's Theater in downtown Raleigh, and now they're making regular appearances at the Renaissance Centre. Storytelling, music and puppetry are used to make these fast paced, interactive shows full of mayhem, a delightful experience for young children and you never know who might visit their stage! Each month boasts a different show theme.

Wednesday, Aug. 13 ~ 11 am

Forest Moon Theater will present 'Attack of the Ugg Bugs' at the Wake Forest Renaissance Centre, 405 S. Brooks St., on Wednesday, Aug. 13, at 11 a.m.

This Forest Moon Theater performance tells the story of Spammy and Jean - two loud-mouthed bugs that are up to no good. They don't realize that their thoughtless words pack a poisonous sting until it's almost too late. Then a beautiful stranger pays them a visit and teaches them a valuable lesson in kindness the bugs won't soon forget.

Talented and energetic, Forest Moon Theater's acting trio of Beth Martin, Jennifer Schulz and Mitzi Bissette create original and innovative children's plays using literature, improvisation and pure interactive fun where children are cast right out of the audience into the show! No two shows are ever the same and adults have as much fun as the kids.

These shows are geared to young children ages 3-7. Tickets are $5 per person and can be purchased in advance or at the Parks and Recreation window in the lobby of the Wake Forest Town Hall, 301 S. Brooks St. On the day of the event, tickets may also be purchased at the door.

Thursday, Aug. 14 ~ 7 pm

Writer's Night in the Forest is an opportunity for anyone who enjoys getting lost in a good book to gather at the Renaissance Centre to socialize, network and explore a variety of reading selections. As an added bonus, the Renaissance Centre will invite a different author each month to discuss a particular book.

On Aug. 14 the Renaissance Centre welcomes Nancy Livingstone, author of the novel "Against Their Will."

In "Against Their Will," a reporter and a movie star who become medical test subjects against their will embark on a dangerous journey to stop powerful forces before they gain possession of all they desire. Nancy Livingstone was a winner in a Writer's Digest competition and has written two other novels. She lives in North Carolina, where she is working on her next novel.
