Attempted armed robbery, Labrador

Gold Coast police are investigating the attempted armed robbery of a Labrador convenience store that occurred last night.

Initial investigations indicate that around 7.25pm, a man armed with what is believed to have been a machete, entered the store on the corner of Government Road and Bellevue Parade.

He threatened the attendants and demanded cash.  They did not comply with his demands and began to throw objects at the man, who then attempted to jump over the counter but fell backwards.

The man left the store on-foot without any property and was last seen running east on Bellvue Parade.

He is described as being Caucasian in appearance and was wearing grey shorts, a black hooded jumper with white printing on the hood and left sleeve.  He was also wearing blue gloves and what is believed to have been similar to a ski mask covering his face.

Nobody sustained any physical injuries during this incident.

Investigations are continuing.
