As a first follow up to his acclaimed 2012 J. R. Plankton release, Plankton teamed up with Robert Defcon and produced an astounding collage of european and afroamerican sounds, vocals and rhythms, both psychedelic and bass heavy. Licensed to groove, the 5 tracks on "Oh Babe" merge the sonically improbable - highlighted by the artificial landscape of Armin Linke's cover photo and Max Dax' artwork.

Following 2010s „Goto“ Toog aka parisien musician, poet and filmmaker Gilles Weinzaepflen is back with his 3rd album on Karaoke Kalk, „The Prepared Public“.
What ensues is 18 tracks of bewildering beauty: both enchanting and baffling. Toog paints a mysterious sound picture blending piano melodies with field recordings, electronic sounds, acoustic guitar and french spoken word. This music effortlessly leaps from minimal ambience to dadaist moments which could be the soundtrack to a Tim Burton movie. „The Prepared Public“ is as likely to perplex as it is delight, but no doubt, this is an album for the discerning listener.

Dakota Suite | Vampillia - The Sea Is Never Full

The origin of this collaboration began two months prior to the Fukushima disaster in Japan. Dakota Suite had been touring Japan with their friends from the Japanese band called ‘Vampillia’ and had been in several coastal locations in Wakayama as well as places near to Fukushima. The tsunami was very upsetting for Chris Hooson and David Buxton from Dakota Suite who then set about making music to reflect this overwhelming sadness and loss for Japan.

Quentin Sirjacq - Far Islands And Near Places

Karaoke Kalk 93 (CD/LP)

With Far Islands And Near Places Parisian pianist, composer and multi-instrumentist Quentin Sirjacq releases his solo debut on Karoake Kalk. While he has collaborated with Dakota Suite on the 2014 release There Is A Calm To Be Done for instance, this is the first release under his own name for the Berlin label.
This beautiful record will no doubt appeal to fans of neo-classical, ambient and modern chamber music.
