There seems to be a lot of trash talk going on this week between Texan and Cowboys fans. I understand that they want their team to win, but this is reaching extreme levels. Levels that are normally reserved for fierce rivalries with a long tradition.
This is not that game. The Texans and Cowboys have played a grand total of THREE regular season games.
2002 the Texans won their inaugural game 19-10.
2006 the Cowboys evened the series with a 34-6 win.
2010 the Cowboys rolled to an easy 27-13 victory.
None of them had championship or playoff implications. THREE. That’s it.
As a Cowboy fan I don’t get it. I have no feelings toward the Texans until we actually play them. I can’t say the same for Texans fans because they get gleeful, damn near giddy, when ANY team beats the Cowboys or Tony Romo throws a pick to end a game.
The Giants, Eagles, Skins, Niners and Steelers those are the Cowboys rivals. No more. No less.
If you are a TRUE Texan fan you know that your actual rival is the Tennessee Titans. Because that was YOUR team! It’s just the Oilers masquerading as a team with new uniforms. Only a rival would make Andre Johnson go off like this.
Subtract the game to find the real rivalry. This is about two cities that don’t care for one another Houston and Dallas. Not two football teams.
