Drink at Dorian's
You have to go through a record shop to get to the dining area and bar at Dorian's. And that's kind of the point. The Wicker Park space opened about three weeks ago, and makes sure the music, cocktails and bites all share the spotlight. With Asian-inspired small plates and a foot in the 1960s, with a slight nod to tiki culture, Dorian's packs a small dose of nostalgia but never pretension. Chow down on mushroom wontons with shiitake, leeks and cabbage or Berkshire pork belly larb with mango, peanuts, fried shallots, toasted coconut rice and chilies while sipping the I- 75 made with Pierre Ferrand 1840 Cognac, lemon juice, simple syrup and topped with Miller High Life. Maybe the Frooty Loops, made with cherry brandy, Italicus (an Italian bergamot liqueur) and half-and-half steeped with Froot Loops cereal, is more your speed. But with tunes, food and booze –where can you go wrong? 1939 W. North Ave. http://throughtherecordshop.com/
