Tracking Holiness
Vol. 25,  No. 1                        "Intercede, Part 1"         Spring 2014
HERE IS YOUR NEW ISSUE OF HOLY GROUND

You will find your Spring 2014 issue of HOLY GROUND below. Just click on the link. This is the eighth issue in a series on contemplation.

In the last issue issue we looked at Practice - just showing up, sitting down on your pillow, or chair and being still, silent, and attentive to God. This issue shifts us to a form of prayer that seems to flow like wide rivers from contemplative practice: Intercession. The deeper, more consistent, and frequent my practice of contemplation the greater is my desire to intercede - to pray intentionally for others and to move out into my community and world to intercede through my presence and gifts.

Intercession in action and prayer leads us into contemplation; contemplation leads us into intercession. At the center is our relationship and communion with Christ, who ceaselessly calls us into solitude and sends out into the world.

This issue Intercede, Part 1 will continue with Intercede, Part 2, the next issue, which will be the Summer, 2014 issue. I would love to include some of your thoughts and experiences with intercessory prayer in that issue. So email me or give me a call. [email protected]; 785-230-0365.

Topeka Gives

Topeka Gives, held June 3, was a fun gathering of 140 local organizations pooling their energy and enthusiasm for responding to local needs and charitable giving. Your gifts to The Sanctuary totaled $715.00 and The Topeka Community Foundation's matching gift was $95.58, which gave us a grand total to $810.38.

During this campaign we also received additional gifts of $1100.00.  Thank you so much! This enables us to serve whomever might want to use our services, regardless of their ability to pay.Thank you!

Topeka Community Conversation on Poverty

We attended this event looking and listening for ways that The Sanctuary might respond to the needs of the poor. We made some good connections, got needed information for a client, and are continuing the conversation.

A Peek from the Past:

Holy Ground Hermitage
No longer in operation.
But for over 16 years
a place of refuge
and refreshment for many.

Intercession is spiritual defiance of what is, in the name of what God has promised. History belongs to the intercessors who believe the future into being.
