Princeton, N.J.- The Georgian Court University Men's and Women's cross-country teams stayed in the Garden State Saturday as the Lions participated in the Princeton University Invitational. The GCU women took 21st place with 488 points while the men finished 23rd with 694 points vs. elite competition.
Reigning Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Rookie of the Week
Jess Handsaker (Fr.-Queensland, Australia) continued her stellar maiden season by finishing the race 25th overall (302 total) with a time of 24:03 in the 6K.
Isalin Howard (Sr.-East Orange, N.J.) in her second race of the year, enjoyed a 66th-place overall finish for the women's squad with a time of 24:51. Freshman
Julia Martone (Toms River, N.J.) was GCU's third overall finisher with a time of 25:54 (122nd place).
Closing out the Lions' Top-7 were
Taylor Dash (137th, 26:10),
Amanda Farina (138th, 26:11),
Megan Kelly (169th, 28:00), and
Laura Amdur (172nd, 28:38).
In the men's draw,
Patrick Parr (Fr.-Brick, N.J.) completed the 8K course in 27:34, good for 97th place overall (337 total).
Brian Ford (So.-Brick, N.J.) followed Parr with a 131st-place finish (28:12).
Uriah St. Lewis (Jr.-Bensalem, Pa.) was GCU's third finisher with a time of 28:55 (141st).
Eric Reinhold (162nd, 30:48) and
Michael Pontrelli (163rd, 30:59) rounded out the GCU men's participants.
The Lions are idle next weekend before heading to the CACC Championship Meet on Sunday, November 2, at Philadelphia's Belmont Plateau.
