San Diego County has been called "the Craft Beer Capital of America," home to 97 licensed breweries & brewpubs, with 41 more in the planning stages. San Diego County's numerous internationally recognized and award-winning breweries have created a beer culture that is a draw for foodie and craft beer tourism, particularly during major festivals such as San Diego Beer Week. Launched in 2009, San Diego Beer Week is now a ten-day county-wide festival, held in early November and aimed at both local residents and tourists. In 2012 there were more than 500 events scheduled during Beer Week!

For the first part of the show, I'll be talking about the influence of craft beer and the craft breweries on the food scene in San Diego County. For the second half, I will be joined by Executive Chef Alex Carballo, Former Executive Chef for Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens, who recently partnered with industry veteran, Jon Mangini, to launch URBN Coal Fired Pizza in El Cajon. He will be talking with me about how the beer culture is growing in the East County; and, about the upcoming EC Craft Beer Invitational benefiting local charities that serve adults and children with developmental disabilities and the San Diego Brewers Guild.

EC Craft Beer Invitational
