CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Citadel's Spike the Bulldog won his mascot matchup against Otto the Orange of Syracuse, garnering 65 percent of the fan vote in Week 3 of the 2014 Capital One Mascot Challenge.
 
Spike has now claimed two decisive wins in a row after trouncing Sparty from Michigan State by a 77-23 percent margin in Week 2 of the competition. Spike's only loss was a narrow 51-49 loss to Georgia Tech's Buzz in Week 1.
 
The national competition features Spike and 15 other NCAA Division I football mascots in head-to-head matchups throughout the football season. Spike is the first Southern Conference mascot to participate in the contest and is the sole representative for FCS Football.
