From the BFA Director Judy Grant
The combination of flute and soprano is simply magical, and we are in for a special treat this Saturday night April 4th! Brendan Ryan is an exceptional flutist who plays with such versatility of sound, gorgeous colors, and exquisite artistry. Soprano Kate Fruchterman visited our BFA Ensemble & Seminar classes last weekend, and we were all blown away with her beautiful voice. In her workshops, she taught us vocal techniques and warmup methods, of course quite helpful for our flute playing. We can't wait to hear Brendan & Kate perform together on Saturday evening, with Christina Wright-Ivanova at the piano. BFA is proud to present these wonderful artists, a world premiere performance, the Levit Flute Company, and Pasquale Galdieri Flute Repair, all on the same night! This is a free event. Details below. You and your family are cordially invited to join us for an inspiring evening!

Special World Premiere
Award-winning composer Brandon Scott Rumsey created a new song cycle, Remembering the Clouds, specifically for these performers and this BFA event!
The song cycle is written for flute, soprano, & piano and revolves around the prose of Irish poets both past and present, with texts by W.B. Yeats, Leanne O'Sullivan, Geoffrey Nutter, and Caitríona O'Reilly. We are excited to hear this newly commissioned piece on April 4th!

Levit Flute Company Exhibit
Constructed from only the highest quality materials and built using the most precise manufacturing processes, the
Levit Standard Flute
is one of the finest flutes available. Scales and headjoint designs can be traced directly back to the work of Albert Cooper. Nearly all of the keywork was designed by Bickford Brannen for the Oston-Brannen flute - and is both comfortable & strong. The Levit Flute meets the highest expectations of today's flutists, and a full range of options is available at a reasonable cost.
BFA will present the Levit Flutes before and after the April 4th concert, so be sure to arrive early and try them out in the main lobby!
