URGENT: Storm Protocol Announcement

SEVERE WEATHER

EMERGENCY PLANNING

Dear Clergy,

On Sundays, despite weather or power outages, we will always strive to have Mass at the regular time unless a catastrophic incident occurs.  However, the safety of our parishioners is always our first concern.  In the event that severe weather, such as a hurricane, severe storm or flooding, the following protocol should be followed:

1.  Please pray that our islands will be preserved from the devastation of severe weather.

2.  The  Pastor will make the decision to delay or cancel church services or events due to inclement weather.  If a decision is made to cancel or delay church services, all efforts should be made to notify the congregation by using the local media sources, church Facebook, website and (if possible) via mass email.

3.   Parishioners should rely upon their own best judgment when conditions such as inclement weather, dangerous road conditions, or emergency situations might put health and safety at risk when attending Mass.

4.  All other activities (meetings, events, rehearsals, etc.) might be cancelled on a case-by-case basis.  Church leaders of these specific events are charged with direct phone call notification to attendees.

5.  In all cases, please advise your staff and parishioners to use personal discretion to determine if it is safe for them to leave their home and travel to church.

If you know of anyone who is not able to receive this message, please contact Elina Simon esimon@rcchawaii.org or (808) 585-3346.

Peace and Be Safe!
