Friday's Friend: Dog Adoption, Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue League

WOOF!! Happy Friday!! Hoping you had a pawsome week- at least you didn't have any snow to shovel and got back to a reasonable schedule.  All that snow was pawsome, but a bit much too.

My human and I had fun relaxing in front of the fireplace, playing tug-of-war, and fetch.  No, we don't have a big place, mom actually had to duck a few times- BARK!  We made use of our family room since we couldn't get out and I was full of energy.  It was fun.

With warmer weather on the way, have you considered adopting a dog to join in on your family fun?  Go on walks or long hikes or even playing in the backyard can make your day fun with a dog.   My friends at the Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue brought by a character I'd like you to meet, Odin!

A 2 year-old, male Fawnequin Great Dane, with natural ears, Odin is one big goofy puppy who came into the Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue League  through no fault of his own. He was happily living with a loving family who decided they would no longer have time for him since they are expecting a baby human.

Fawnequin Great Dane? arf? Had to DogPile that one, no not what you are thinking, but the search engine, so I could learn what "Fawnequin" means!  Barkingly pawsome, these are Great Danes which are white with fawn patches and spotting, in a harlequin pattern.  WOOF!! Now, we both know something new- !!

WOOF!!! Odin loves to play, enjoying chasing, chewing on tennis balls (especially over-sized squeaky Kong tennis balls), playing tug-of-war with his rope toys, and play-wrestling with his foster parents.  Being the big dog he is, he plays like one and can be mouthy along with it!  WOOF!!!

BARK!!  WOOF!!! When he's not playing and zooming around full of life, he likes to give lots of hugs and doggie kisses!!  He'll come right up to you, in that typical pawfect Great Dane fashion and lean on his foster parents while they rub his belly!

Odin does have a bit of a happy tail which is constantly going since he's a very happy puppy!  He is still not quite aware of his size, so he'll need to be supervised around children.

Odin gets along with cats and is great with other dogs.  Sometimes, other critters will get intimidated by Odin's size and enthusiastic method of play. A training requirement will come with Odin as part of his adoption.

A selective eater, Odin has taken to eating "Taste of the Wild" buffalo and venison kibble.

Odin will alert you to strange noises and strangers at the door but once he determines all is alright, he returns to his sweet self.

A perfect dog for an active family with all household members over the age of 13.

Odin will be neutered (Ouch!! arf!?) and have a Gastropexy.  Once he recovers he will be looking for his "Forever Home" and some pawsome humans to share life with!  WOOF!!!!
