A fire caused residents in Sycamore Township to evacuated their home Thursday afternoon.

A family of four was displaced Thursday after a fire caused about $70,000 worth of damage to their home in Sycamore Township, a fire official said.

The family of two adults and two children already evacuated the house when fire officials arrived around 4:15 p.m., said fire Lt. Mike Beiting of the Sycamore Township Fire Department.

No one was hurt, Beiting said.

Red Cross workers are setting up a place for the family to stay temporarily, the lieutenant said.

Initial dispatches reported the fire was started by a candle and quickly spread to curtains in the living room at a home in the 8100 block of Queens Avenue.

Beiting said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

"But right now it's leaning toward accidental," he said.
