MONMOUTH, Ore. – The defending Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) regular season and tournament champion Western Oregon University softball team begins defense of its title this weekend on Friday and Saturday, March 6 and 7, against Northwest Nazarene University beginning at 2 and 12 PM, respectively, on the WOU Softball Field.

Coming off their best season in school history, Western Oregon (3-11) will look to get a jump start on conference play after a tough non-conference schedule that included playing six of its first eight games against nationally-ranked opponents.

Last season, the Wolves posted a win-loss record of 34-23 that included an 18-6 mark in GNAC play. WOU also won 11-of-14 games at home last season.

Western Oregon and Northwest Nazarene will play back-to-back double headers this weekend, as the Wolves and Crusaders will begin the four-game series on Friday, March 6, at 2 PM before closing out the series on Saturday, March 7, beginning at noon.

A potluck tailgate party will take place in-between games on Saturday, while the annual Lil' Wolves Club members will also be introduced with their Big Sister prior to the first pitch on Saturday.

Admission into both double headers are $6.00 for adults and $4.00 for seniors and non-WOU students. Western Oregon students and children under the age of 12 are admitted free of charge.

Softball season tickets will also be available to purchase for $25.00 per person, while Spring Season Passes can also be bought for $45.00 per person which allows general admission to all home baseball, softball, and track & field events this spring.
