Armed robbery charges, Cairns

Police have charged a man following an armed robbery that occurred Thursday night in Cairns.

A man entered a pharmacy on Grafton Street Cairns around 9.20 carrying a knife. He threatened staff and demanded medication. The attendant has complied and the man exited the store and left the scene in a vehicle.

Police located and took one man into custody a short time later.

The attendant did not suffer any physical injuries as a result of the robbery.

Police have charged a 38-year-old Parramatta Park man with one count of armed robbery. He is due to face Cairns Magistrates Court today.
