Plus-sized model receives death threats after losing 240 pounds

Models are often scrutinized for how they look because they are either above or below average weight. One of them put in work to make a healthy change -- but is receiving death threats for it.

Plus-sized model Rosie Mercado lost 240 pounds, going from 410 to 170.

After being told by a flight attendant she would need to buy a second seat, Mercado vowed to lose weight. To lead a healthier life, she started eating low carb and high protein diet. This also included being more active and exercising 6 times a week:

The model, however, has also received hate for her jaw-dropping transformation. "I got hate mail from fans who told me to go jump of a bridge and kill myself," she told TMZ.

"Fat activists ...just hated the thought that I was really public about my weight loss and that I was losing weight," she continued.

The 36-year-old, however, is not letting haters stop her. "I don't think they liked how public I was about my weight loss and getting a tummy tuck and skin removal and just being authentic and real about it," she said. "But I'm happier at the end of the day."
