KINGSVILLE, Texas -- No. 14-ranked Midwestern State continued its dominance over non-ranked Division II squads by taking a 9-0 win over Texas A&M-Kingsville Saturday afternoon in its Lone Star Conference opener at the King High School Tennis Courts.
The Mustangs won their third consecutive match to improve to 9-5 on the season while moving to 5-0 against non-ranked NCAA Division II teams with aggregate score of 43-2 this season.
Sophomore
Paige Boykin claimed her 50th and 51st career dual wins rolling to a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Paula Saenz at No. 5 singles after teaming with junior Madeline Schorlemmer to take an 8-0 decision over Erika Larrea and Saenz at No. 3 doubles.
It was Boykin's team-best fifth straight singles win as she moved 11-3 this season.
Sophomore
Courtney Anderson collected her fourth consecutive singles win to improve to 8-1 this season claiming a 6-0, 6-1 win over Tabata Lua at No. 4 singles.
Senior
Taylor Coffman combined with junior
Kayla Casey to claim a fifth straight doubles win rolling to an 8-2 decision over Texas A&M-Kingville's Mariaxi Herrera and Marija Dimitrovska at the No. 1 position.
On the singles side, Casey rolled past Herrera 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1 while Coffman defeated Nadia Grlj 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2.
Schorlemmer beat Dimitrovska 6-3, 6-4 at No. 3 for her third straight win.
Juniors
Lauren Pineda and
Lindsay Nochowicz claimed an 8-2 win over Grlj and Lua at No. 2 doubles, while Nochowicz improved to 10-3 with a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Larrea at No. 6 singles.
Midwestern State takes on St. Edward's (Texas) Friday morning at the MSU Tennis Center. First serve is set for 10 a.m.
Texas A&M-Kingsville fell to 10-9 and 0-1.
