Invitation

  • Dr Stephen Jacobs
  • Dr Michael Norton

It is with great pleasure and anticipation, that the Academy of Osseointegration can announce the second meeting of the Japanese Charter Chapter.
It will be two years since the inaugural meeting, which was a great success, and our thanks and appreciation go to the Japanese Ambassador of the Academy, Takashi Sumi, for once again organising what will certainly be a meeting that will exceed the scientific and educational content of even the 2015 event.
This time, Dr Sumi has arranged a 2-day conference, titled ‘AO - Into the Next Generation’ and will be divided into four sessions. The subject of each session will be anterior aesthetics, a surgical track, hard and soft tissue management and digital solutions.
Dr Sumi has put together a list, comprising of 15 of the best speakers in Japan, with 2 overseas speakers, Dr Michael Norton, President-Elect of AO and Dr Stephen Jacobs, Chair of the Global Program Development Committee.
Dr Jacobs, who also happens to be on the Certificate and Fellowship Committee, will present ‘Good Morning with AO’, where he will explain the new Certificate and how members can apply for this. The AO Certificate is an award for members who can demonstrate knowledge, education and experience in implant dentistry, and he will show how this is achievable for most AO members, and how to go about it.
We look forward to seeing you in Tokyo, in July 2017.

Dr Stephen Jacobs (Chair, Global Program Development Committee)
Dr Michael Norton (President-Elect)

Message

  • Kunihiko Teranishi
    Meeting General Manager

It was in 1980s when osseointegrated dental implants were first introduced to Japan. In the past three decades, scientific researches and clinical applications of dental implants in Japan have shown amazing advancements, thanks to the efforts of our seniors and colleagues.
Today, more and more clinicians and researchers in implant therapy and tissue engineering are playing active roles in international scientific programs as speakers.
Many of our young colleagues are also proactively joining overseas training courses, which is a good indicator of advancing internationalization in the area of dental implantology.
I hope to make the AO Charter Charer Japan 2017 a special occasion to further prove the advancement of implant therapy and tissue engineering in Japan by encouraging young and active clinicians and researchers to present their ideas and experiences at this opportunity.
I wish this meeting will contribute in boosting the international development of the AO.

It is a great pleasure and honor for us to host the AO Charter Charter Japan 2017. It is scheduled to take place on July 8 and 9 in 2017.
As you all know, the Academy of Osseointegration, or the AO, is one of the largest dental implant society in the world, with more than 6,000 members from about 70 countries and regions all across the world. The International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Implants, or JOMI, published by AO has been providing a lot of valuable information and making tremendous contributions to implant therapy.
It was in 2015 when AO established the Global Committee to promote its global reach.
Since then, AO has stepped out of the United States, and hosted scientific programs in various countries such as UK, Japan, Korea and India.
AO decided to continue its global programs in Poland, Jerusalem, Mexico, South Africa and Spain in 2016 and 2017.
The AO Charter Charter Japan 2017 is the second round of the AO global program held in Japan, and I believe that it will provide a great opportunity to Japanese dentists, technicians and hygienists, who are responsible for the next generation of implant therapy, to present their world-class treatment skills and technologies. I would like to make this event in Japan a productive meeting with full of driving force where scientific inputs and stimulating discussions are exchanged among international colleagues, including dentists and co-dental staff.
