Manslaughter charge, Byrnestown

As the result of a protracted investigation, yesterday afternoon a 32-year-old Byrnestown man was charged with one count of manslaughter following the death of a 4-year-old boy in 2013.

Yesterday and as a result of extensive enquiries between members of the Maryborough Child Protection Investigation Unit and the State Crime Command’s Child Trauma Task Force under Operation Lima Acute, detectives charged the 32-year-old man.

He appeared in the Hervey Bay Magistrates Court and was remanded to reappear on March 17.

The investigation follows the death of a 4-year-old boy at a Gayndah address on February 21, 2013. The boy was found to have drowned.
