Poinsettia Gifts

Honor a Loved One this Christmas

Honoring or celebrating the memory of a loved one during Advent and Christmas is a special gift to the family. It can also be a gift to the beautification of the church at this special time of year. If you wish to contribute toward the purchase of poinsettias for the Worship Room and Foyer, please submit your cash or check along with this form to the church office (you can also place it in the locked, wooden box outside the office). Names submitted by Monday, December 22, will be listed in the Christmas Eve 7:30 p.m. service worship guide. (Suggested donation: $25 per plant. Please make checks payable to VBC, and indicate “poinsettias” in the memo line.) Thank you!. You may also make your poinsettia through the online giving link on our website by choosing the "Worship Arrangements" fund. Please send an email to CJ in the office with the dedication information if you choose to donate online.

Annual Love Offering

Give Thanks for our Staff

We have a tradition at VBC of asking members to consider making a monetary gift to the church, designated for the staff Christmas gift fund. All contributions are shared among the office, Lost River, and ministerial staff. Designated gifts (marked "Christmas Love Offering") can be placed in the offering plates on Sundays or placed in the box outside of the office. Special envelopes will be available in the Sunday bulletin and on tables in the Foyer. You may also make your love offering through the online giving link on our website by choosing the "Staff Gift" fund.Thank you for showing your appreciation to our staff for their faithful service to our congregation!

Chrismon Tree

An Annual VBC Tradition

Chrismons Ornaments were originated and first made for use on the Christmas tree of Ascension Lutheran Church in Danville, Virginia, in 1957 by Mrs. Frances Kipps Spencer, a church member. The designs were monograms of and symbols for our Lord Jesus Christ. Because these designs have been used by his followers since biblical times, they are the heritage of all Christians and serve to remind each of us regardless of denomination of the One we follow. All Chrismons Ornaments are made in a combination of white and gold to symbolize the purity and majesty of the Son of God and the Son of Man.

Thanks to the generosity of the Brandenburgs, the Campbells, and Irmgard and Wolfie Scherer, we have a new tree this year. We appreciate their donation so that this tradition may continue.

Discipleship Classes

For Children Grade 3-6 Starting Soon

During their Sunday morning Bible study hour, we invite all students in grades 3-6 to participate in our discipleship class. In this class, the students will discuss images of God, believer's baptism, worship order, and other topics about their faith journey. Whether your children regularly attend bible study, or this is their first experience, all are welcome. For more information, contact Ginny Richardson in the church office.

Youth Ski Trip

Join Us for this Annual Event!

The youth of VBC will be taking their annual ski trip to Wintergreen Resort in Nelson, VA, on January 30-31. A deposit of $20 is due by January 18. For more information, contact Ginny Richardson in the church office.

Strong Volunteers Needed

Support CHO's Furniture Collection

CHO has requested that our church support their charity furniture collection service on Saturday morning twice a year.  The Missions Committee is looking for a few volunteers who can support this pick-up service for much-needed furniture items to support the growing need of families in our area.  The first Saturday we will support will be in Jan/Feb, with the date being based on volunteer availability and we will not pick up again until July/Aug.

The commitment is from 9AM until 11:30 or noon at the latest. The group of 3-4 will leave the Vienna Town Yard Warehouse at the end of Mill St. at 9AM, return with whatever donations we have picked up, and park the truck. You do not need to unload the truck! Please email Emily Miller if you are able to help.

Guest Preacher January 11

Brent Walker from BJC to Visit

On January 11th, Vienna Baptist will host a guest speaker from one of the Missions supported by the congregation, the Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty.  We have invited Brent Walker to preach in order for us to better understand what the BJC does, as well as what their ministry means to us as a Baptist community.

"Primarily an education and advocacy organization, the Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty is a leading voice in Washington, D.C., fighting to uphold the historic Baptist principle of religious freedom. It stands guard at the intersection of church and state, defending the first freedom of the First Amendment by protecting both the free exercise of religion and defending against its establishment by government.

The BJC fights for religious liberty for all, working with other Christian groups as well as with groups that represent Jewish, Muslim, Hindu and other religious and non-religious perspectives." You can read more about BJC at their website.
