IRELAND : Molly’s secrets on the Eurosong stage last night

As you will have seen last night Molly Sterling won Ireland’s Eurosong song selection for Vienna with the song ‘Playing With Numbers’.

What people may not have known was that Molly had some of her good luck charms on stage with her in her piano.

What were they? Well we can exclusively reveal that they were as follows :

First up was a 7 inch vinyl single of one of her favourite singers and idols Stevie Nicks. Molly had a copy of the classic song ‘Rooms On Fire’ #AwesomeChoice

Next up was a small Buddha to represent her calmness and spiritual thoughts. #Zen

Then Molly had been sent hundreds of good luck cards and letters from the pupils of her old schools from over the years including that of Kilkenny College where she went to earlier in the week to sing her now Eurovision entry ‘Playing With Numbers’

Molly last night won the Irish selection for Eurovision 2015 in one of the closest contests since 2011. There was only 4 points separating Molly and Kat Mahon who came second.

  1. Well I am quite happy with our entry, it’s growing on me. A well-composed song with a lovely lyric. Am relieved Nikki didn’t make it, as although I like her, Memories was performed very poorly (far too screechy) and was all over the place. It deserved it’s 4th placing. Alex should never have been in this selection in the first place so 5th was spot on. Kat came a very close second and did a fine job but Linda Martin’s incessant push for it to win (obviously for her mate Charlie McGettigan) left me cold. She really is an irritant now. Thank goodness for Panti . Erika had a good song but it was also all over the place and didn’t work on the night. This year’s panel were more forthright with their opinions which was refreshing than in recent years but overall, the whole show was really, quite awful. The opening with Linda, Niamh and Paul was dreadful and the interval with Joe McCaul, Mary Byrne et al was even more brutal and so amateurish it was embarrassing. Phil and NIamh kind of did okay in the end….just. As for Molly. Well, for a 16 year old who co-wrote the song, I think she is very talented indeed. She may not have a massive voice or even one that appeals to everyone but hopefully she will get to work on this and keep the staging simple Good luck to you Molly and the rest of the Irish contingent in Vienna and I hope to see you in the final come May 23rd.
