Seafood and Absinthe Spot The Savoy to Shutter on Sunday

This weekend is your last chance to get seafood and absinthe at The Savoy. The Wicker Park nautical-themed hideaway will shutter for good following service on Sunday night, four days after its two-year anniversary, according to Savoy staffers.

The whys of this story are seemingly business-based. Industry sources say that traffic to the restaurant became noticeably slower in recent months, resulting in decreased revenue that was compounded by the loss of expected income from the Taste of Chicago's Saturday shutdown.

The Savoy opened nearly two years ago to the day, focusing on two items that have become trendy (seafood and absinthe) since then, in one of the trendiest neighborhoods in Chicago. It experienced change in the kitchen last August when opening chef Brian Greene was let go and new chef Cecilio Rodriguez changed up the food menu.

Stop into the restaurant for some final absinthe and oysters before Sunday at 10 p.m., or at its tent at Wicker Park fest this weekend. There's no word yet on what's coming to the space next.
