If Hanna forms one more committee ...

 THE EDITOR, Sir:

There's a little saying in corporate, 'if you don't want to work, have meetings'. In the case of Lisa Hanna, set up committees.

We have become inundated with Hanna's response to issues with forming committees. She's a masterbuilder at it. Seems it's her way to cloud the fact that she delivers nothing in her ministry. Committee building is the sum total of her duties and/or accomplishments.

Her recent project was to construct a board-house committee ,chaired by Maxine Henry-Wilson, to review the operations of children's homes.

If that is all Hanna can bring to the ministry, it is time for the prime minister to do the right thing and strip her of her duties. She simply is drowning in issue after issue and controversy after controversy.

The most unfortunate of all is her lack of judgement and leadership when issues arise. Frankly, she emulates the worst trait of a poor leader - she's reactive. At the flash of a light, she reacts with committees and reports. Sigh.

Take, for example, this Jamaicans for Justice (JFJ) issue. Hanna could have used it as an opportunity to talk about the fact that young people are, in fact, sexually active. She could have called us to action and used her own statement (which she later weakly retracted) that our youth in children's homes are having sex and abusing each other. This was her moment to stand as a leader and trigger change.

No, not Ms Minister of Reactive and Committee Building. But Minister, where is your strategy, where is your policy?

I support what someone said: Hanna should take her wand and crown and leave minister business to better minds. She needs to sashay away.
