ANNE likes brains; John’s brains.
She’s a sapiosexual, not a walking dead. Anne is one of many young Filipinos who find intelligence the most sexually attractive nonphysical feature in another person.
Anne’s love for John lies in the left hemisphere of his brain: mathematics.
“I find him more appealing with his intelligence.”
While some scientists point to chemicals like pheromones, for the young people the BusinessMirror polled, it goes beyond science.
Here are the top 10 choices:
1 Intelligence. Luckily, John excelled in mathematics in high school and proved his skills to Anne when he helped her with her college algebra and statistics problems. “I easily get turned off when someone is not into mathematics, but with John, I feel I won the lottery jackpot.”
2 Sense of humor. A daily dose of jokes completes a day for some millennials: “It makes him more interesting.” Some like “knock-knock” jokes, while others like persons that make them laugh and think at the same time.
3 Honesty. Rihanna may love the way you lie but some don’t: “If he tells me he’s talking to his mom, then he better be talking to his mom.” For some, dating Pinocchio is way better than dating a man: “Who wants to date a liar?”
4 Fidelity. Some male millennials said they get attracted to someone who makes them feel “as if I was destined to be with her.”
5 Forbearance. Young people said they are attracted to someone who understands mood swings and allow them to vent and rant.
6 Solicitous. For some millennials, being put at ease or expressing concern over another is a top nonphysical feature of attraction. Asking how one’s day went or telling another one has arrived home safe are examples of being caring. “He eases my worry.”
7 God-fearing. A guy who prays every morning and night, every before and after meal, and memorizes their church’s Mass schedule is a plus factor for some female millennials.
8 Respectful. Being respectful of another person’s view isn’t enough to be considered a top nonphysical feature for some young people. Surprisingly, millennials whom the BusinessMirror talked to said they get attracted to people who practice the traditional way of pagmamano to the elderly. “Respectful men have great sex appeal for me. They have the aura of a gentleman.”
9 Thoughtfulness. Getting out of one’s way is a sure way to win a heart. One example is traveling far during heavy rain or flooding to make sure the girlfriend gets home from school safe.
10 Goal-oriented. For some, love starts with one’s self. A man should have a plan for himself whether a savings target, travel plans, career goal or a passion. “Knowing that he’s a goal-driven person makes him more attractive to my eyes,” a millennial said.
