I’m nothing if not a diligent wedding blogger – and prefer to visit and scope out each and every one of my dream venue recommendations before suggesting them to my readers.  It makes sense and keeps my conscience clear (and my appetite for mini breaks well stated)!

.

I was lucky enough to be invited to stay over at the beautiful Middleton Lodge recently, partake in a special tour of the house and gardens and indulge in their fabulous Supper Club.  The result? I couldn’t recommend this place more highly.  If I were in the market for a simply stunning wedding venue, this place would be very, very near the top of my list.  See for yourselves.

.

Middleton Lodge is located in the heart of Yorkshire in the quaint village of Middleton Tyas and is the perfect private event location. With 17 bedrooms, 200 capacity marquee, cellar (home to the Cellar Door Supper Club), cinema, cellar bar, private dining room, tennis court, and plenty of land to accommodate clay pigeon shooting which is popular all year round. The venue also has an external helicopter landing field site for those wishing to arrive in style!

.

Unfortunately, I had to settle for arriving by clapped out VW Golf…

Tell Brides Up North about weddings at Middleton Lodge?

.

Middleton Lodge and its 250 acre Georgian estate offers the perfect setting for a traditional country wedding – with a slightly modern twist. We have our own wedding license, vast grounds, beautiful interiors, numerous reception rooms for eating and drinking, and 17 individually designed bedrooms.

.

Summer Weddings

.

From early spring onwards our grounds really come into their own. BBQ’s on the terrace on a Friday night, drinks receptions on the lawns and making the most of the outside space is a must. Our private parkland with striking vistas creates the perfect backdrop for photos, whilst your guests can enjoy the English countryside to its full. Smaller weddings can then take over the house and larger functions head to the marquee, which you can decorate however you would like.

.

Winter Weddings

.

With roaring fires in the house, Christmas decorations, mulled wine & Winter Pimms, the Lodge can be a truly magical place in the winter months. Our fully heated marquee creates a stunning venue for any Christmas wedding with its star cloth backdrop, candles and Christmas trees. We even have an awning connecting the marquee to the Drawing Room, so none of your guests have to venture outside.

Is Middleton Lodge licensed for civil ceremonies?

.

We hold civil ceremonies for up to 120 guests, using three different locations, including Yorkshire’s only licensed outdoor space. For more intimate receptions we use the house function rooms seating up to 45 dinner guests. For larger numbers between 65 and 180, we use our own permanent marquee set within the grounds. The marquee – which overlooks fabulous country views, can comfortably seat 200 and has also recently undergone a refurbishment.

.

We wish for all guests to make themselves at home and treat our home as their own, for the duration of their stay. We specialise in exclusive weekend and intimate mid-week weddings and our packages are designed to be a flexible guide rather than set in stone. We tailor most things to individual requirements and recommend that couples hire Middleton Lodge over 2 nights, that way they really do get to experience the Lodge at its best.

.

.

What makes Middleton Lodge a special wedding venue and sets you apart from others?

.

Middleton Lodge offers total exclusivity of the house and grounds for the duration of your stay, we also offer the Bride and Groom a totally bespoke service to suit their needs. We believe in total flexibility and adopt a professional yet personable approach. Here at the Lodge we also have our own wedding planner and coordinator included within all packages and are more than happy for all Bride & Groom’s to visit as many times as they wish in the run up to their big day. Our aim is to provide an unforgettable experience for those sharing their special day with us.

Any really memorable weddings at the venue?

.

Lizzie and Alex, a charming young couple decided to share their special day with Middleton Lodge on 7th – 9th June 2013. The couple, who had obviously worked hard to create the day of their dreams, were at the heart of a wonderful weekend which left guests and staff alike talking about the ‘Wedding of the Year’ for weeks to follow.

.

It was an absolutely idyllic wedding from start to finish, and a pleasure to be a part of.  From the glorious weather and gorgeous outdoor ceremony to Lizzie’s beautiful beige Valentino Shoes and dress to die for, the couple’s stay at the Lodge was faultless.  It was effortlessly elegant, a beautiful weekend. Lizzie and Alex created something so different, so pure. The atmosphere was unrivalled, everyone seemed so happy to have been a part of their celebrations.
