Annie Lennox: 'Feminism' Is A 'Loaded Word,' But Can't Be Traded For Another

Annie Lennox: Feminism 'Is A Great Word, And There Isn't An Alternative'

The word "feminism" can be divisive, but Annie Lennox says there's no better way to describe the cultural push for women's equality.

When Lennox joined HuffPost Live's Caroline Modarressy-Tehrani on Tuesday to discuss her new album, "Nostalgia," the music icon shared her take on women's complicated relationship with the term.

"The word is tricky for people. I've personally thought about, what's an alternative? Is there another word instead of using 'feminism'? Because it seems to be so challenging for people," Lennox said. "It is a loaded word. But actually, I think the word is a great word, and there isn't an alternative. And we must go back and actually reevaluate it and give it its full sense of value."
