Tutored Tastings

Our tutored tasting program from 2023 is below. To receive updates as new tastings are added for 2024 please subscribe to our mailing list, or follow us on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram.

Tutored tastings last for around an hour. Masterclasses last for approximately 90 minutes. All tastings are free unless specified.  Our tastings are relaxed and informal, and no prior wine knowledge is needed!

Friday Evening Session:

6.30pm: Exploring Prosecco DOC - Neil Phillips, The Wine Tipster

7.00pm: What does sustainability mean in winemaking? A tasting of sustainable wines with Richard Bampfield MW

7.30pm: Boutique wineries and indigenous grapes from Spain - Ana Gomez, Flavours of Spain

8.00pm: The Wines of Beaujolais - Dan Farrell-Wright, Wickhams

Saturday Afternoon Session:

1.00pm: Thames and Chiltern Vineyards Association Wines Masterclass - Locally-produced wines from Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire, led by Patricia Stefanowicz MW and Yannick Joseph, Head Butler of St. Johns College, Oxford

1.30pm: Pairing Wine and Cheese - Jamie Smith, The Online Wine Tasting Club, and James Grant, No2 Pound Street

2.00pm: Secrets of Mendoza - Mark Bradbury, Ruta40
3.00pm: What's new in German winemaking? - John Shuckburgh, The Oxford Wine School

Saturday Evening Session:

6.00pm: Greek Island Wines - Dr Maria Moutsou, Southern Wine Roads
6.30pm: The Vineyards of Coastal California - Jennifer Williams-Bulkeley, Ally Wines

7.00pm: Exploring Sicily - Pip Vanham, Wickhams

7.30pm: An Introduction to the Wines of Chile - Tim Bradley, The Oxford Wine School

8.00pm: The Wines of Croatia and Slovenia - Ben Franks, Novel Wines

To book onto a tutored tasting you first need to have booked your tickets to the relevant session of the festival. Then just email us at Ihaveaquestion@oxfordwinefestival.org to reserve your places. All tutored tastings will fill up well before the festival starts, so don't delay!
