Charges: Dangerous driving, South Brisbane area

Police have charged a 26-year-old man following a dangerous driving incident last night.

At around 9.35pm, police allegedly observed a utility travelling over the speed limit on Manly Road, Tingalpa and attempted to intercept. After the driver failed to stop for police, it will be further alleged that the male driver drove through a red light.

A short while later, police from Wynnum allegedly tried to intercept the same utility on Old Cleveland Road, when it again evaded police, driving through two more red lights.

Police successfully deployed tyre deflation devices on Old Cleveland Road, at the intersection of Stanborough Road, puncturing both front tyres.

The driver continued before police were able to intercept at Camp Hill.

A 26-year-old Wynnum man has been charged with two counts each of fail to stop motor vehicle and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and one count of driving without a licence.

He will appear in the Wynnum Magistrates Court on Monday, September 1.
