VUU Football Ranked #1 in the Nation!

For the first time in 34 years, Virginia Union University football is ranked #1 among the nation's Historically Black College and Universities.  The Panthers are tied for the nation's top spot with Tuskegee University in the latest Heritage Sports Radio Network Poll, released on Monday, October 5.

The Panthers are 4-1 after defeating Shaw University 22-13 on Saturday, October 3, in Raleigh, N.C.

Virginia Union and Tuskegee both have 108 points in the HSRN poll.  Tuskegee lost to UNC-Pembroke 29-17 on Saturday.

VUU had occupied the #2 position in the poll for the past three weeks before moving up to the top spot.

The last time Virginia Union football was ranked #1 came on November 24, 1981 when the Panthers finished the season 11-0.
